Town Hall Rentals

RESERVATIONS:  Contact the Town Office for availability.  A signed rental agreement and a security deposit of $100 is required for all rentals.  Once a signed rental agreement and security deposit has been received, your date will be reserved.

 

RENTAL CHARGE:  The hall rental fee is $100.00 (plus a security deposit).  Industry residents will be allowed one rental each year, per household at no charge when holding a family event.

 

 GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • It is the Renter's responsibility to obtain the key during normal office hours the week of their rental date.

  • NO ALCOHOL is allowed on the premises unless it is being provided by a licensee of the State of Maine,  A copy of the liquor license will be required.

  • No smoking is allowed inside the Town Hall and at least 20 feet from the entranceway.

  • This is a carry-in, carry-out facility, therefore it is the responsibility of the renter for the removal and disposal of all trash.

  • Surveillance cameras are in place to monitor the interior and exterior of the Town Hall and its surroundings against theft and vandalism.

Elections & Voting

Registering to Vote

You may register to vote at the Town Office with proof of identification and residency.  Documents that are accepted for residency are any of the following that show your name and Industry address;  Maine Driver's License or State ID, utility bill, bank statement, motor vehicle registration, hunt/fish license, or other government document.  P.O. boxes are not acceptable.  You may also register to vote on election day at the polls.

Absentee Voting 

 

Absentee Ballots are available for all elections and allow a voter to cast a ballot without going to the polls on Election Day.  Absentee ballots maybe be requested within 90 days preceding an election with the ballots being available 30 days prior.  Requests may be made in person at the Town Office, by calling the Town Office, by mailing an application to the Town Office, or through the State's Absentee Request Service.

Election Equipment

The Town uses equipment via the State's contract with Election Systems & Software.  The Tabulators are subject to specific security measures that include:  multiple layers of locking mechanisms, passwords, restricted chain of custody & access to all components and ballots, and most importantly the tabulators are NOT connected to the internet.  The tabulators are also tested independently prior to each election; with coding software facilitated via computers that are not connected to the internet.

Annual Town Meeting

The Annual Town Meeting is held on the second Saturday in March of each year at 2:00 p.m.  The meeting is held at the Industry Town Hall, 1033 Industry Road, Industry.

Municipal Elections

The annual election for a Select Board Member for a 3 yr term and a School Board Director (every 3 yrs) is part of the Annual Town Meeting and takes place the same morning at 8:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Industry Town Hall.

School District Budget - RSU 9

The school district holds a District Budget Meeting (open town meeting style) so voters may vote on itemized budget amounts.  The district and school board hold their budget meeting in the month of May at the Mt. Blue Campus.  The Budget Validation Election is normally held on the second Tuesday in June at the Industry Town Hall.  If no other State election is scheduled at the time of the budget validation, the polling hours will be from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m.

State Elections

The State typically holds Election on the second Tuesday in June and the first Tuesday in November.  Poll will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Industry Town Hall, 1033 Industry Road, Industry. 

Marriage Licenses

Maine residents getting married in Maine are required to apply for a marriage license at the Town Office of their residency.  Non-Maine residents getting married in Maine can go to ANY Town/City Office in the State of Maine to obtain a marriage License.

Due to the lengthiness of the process of completing a marriage license we strongly encourage you to have all the necessary paperwork and information required to help the office staff process your license as timely and efficiently as possible.  The Town Office staff stops processing marriage licenses 30 minutes before closing.

Anyone visiting the Town Office to apply for a marriage license is encouraged to com prepared with the following:

  • Completed marriage intentions form in legible black ink, with ever box completed.

    • The marriage intentions form should be completed, but NOT SIGNED.

      • The marriage intentions form should only be signed in the presence of the Clerk's office staff during your visit with a valid phot ID for both parties.​

  • If either party was previously married, a certified copy of the divorce decree or death certificate.

Marriage Officiants

The following individuals are authorized to preform a marriage in Maine

  • Ordained ministers of the gospel

  • A person licenses to preach by an association of ministers, religious seminary or ecclesiastical body.

  • Judges or justices (residents of Maine only)

  • Lawyers admitted to the Maine Bar (residents of Maine only)

  • Licensed Marriage Officiant  search here

A Maine Notary Public is no longer authorized to officiate a marriage in Maine.

Vital Records:  Birth, Death, Marriage Certificates

To prevent fraudulent use of vital records, Maine's law requires a person requesting a cop of birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, and domestic partner registrations less than 100 years old, to provide documentation establishing their direct and legitimate interest in the record.

Individuals who may access vital records less than 100 years old include:

  • The person names on the record;

  • The person's spouse or registered domestic partner;

  • The parent(s) named on the record;

  • Descendants of the person named on the record;

  • Registrant's legal custodian, guardian, or conservator or respective authorized representative (includes attorney, physician, or funeral director); and

  • Genealogists who have a Maine CDC issued researcher identification card.

Proof of identity must also be presented with a brief application for securing a copy of the vital records must be filled out and presented, along with positive identification such as a driver's license, passport, or other government issued picture identification.

Requests may be completed by mail, online, or in person at the Town Office.  Mail-in requests must include a photocopy of your driver's license or two other forms of identification.  Requests may be completed online using Maine's Vital Record Request System.

A certified vital record is $15; and $6 for each additional copy of the same record.
